You don't need to get rid of it. There are thousands of ways to fully take advantage of your autism. No one is truely normal.

TMS is mainly to treat intractible depression and some cases of treatment-resistant pain [like "phantom limb" pain]. what is needed, is a way to boost the function of certain parts of the brain [like in the frontal lobes, for example], as well as tamp down activity in other parts.

Weather you think you need to change to fit in or not it could become a valuable tool. Nts and aspie alike could benifit as it can speed or slow sections of brain function and its in most casses temporary, if you dont like what you have become stop the treatment. To me it would open the door to a higher understanding of others and I could then choose to close that door again. Would it change you yes, any time you change prospective it changes you thats just growing. It's one of those thing that should be left to the individual to ponder for them self as a adult not forced on any! Any one can disagee with me with out tring it out. You dont know, just as I havent experianced it for my self. Anyone that has is welcome to chime in even if it was just used to treat depression.

Dear Gedrene, The more I learn about Asperger's, the more I am convinced that Autism is being used as an umbrella term and that Asperger's does not belong there. Your phrasing 'huge bundle of medical issues under one roof...slamming together into a spectrum' says it perfectly...Sylkat

Thank you. it's nice to know that my ideas are vindicated by empirical fact, rather than just because I sit on one side of a fence and collude secretly.

I want to be treated like a human. I don't wish to be treated of my autism. If it isn't broken, don't fix it.

Sadly, autistic people are a minority, at the very least we can speak for ourselves, but as my little study in the case of Deaf people has shown, people that are afraid of difference will always discriminate against minorities and make their life a living hell.

Regardless of weather a disease or neurologic types is irrelivent if some one wants to change it is there choice. We wouldnt stop some one from a meaningless superficial surgery like a nose job. Why do we fight so hard against those who want to change there situation. I feel that we give advice only based on our experiences without looking at the big picture. . :?Green89tom wrote:

I can understand the first two sentences, but not the third. If it aint perfect, improve it! Yet, why improve something that I can demonstate makes me feel just as good and do just as well?
