I know I am bipolar. Fact. I know I probably have OCD. Fact. But Asperger's? Not sure. I NEED help trying to figure this out. I have read up on it and I am still very, very confused. Plus the friends I have told and my mom don't think it's possible. My psychiatrist has never brought it up. My counselor has never mentioned it. So who am I to say I have Asperger's?!

It can be a very confusing subject, especially for those of us that have it to try to be aware of ourselves and our issues enough to identify.

Have you tried any library books on the subject? Sometimes it helps to read a little bit and see if it feels familiar.

telling friends may not be a reliable source, because their information on the subject lacks your personal experiences, they only know the outer you for the most part.

good luck

What makes you think you might have Aspergers? Why not bring it up to your counsellor? Lots of adults bring it up first instead of waiting for the counsellor to bring it up. Many counsellors are not specialists in ASDs, and even if you do have one, they might not even think to bring it up because it is not SO obvious.

A lot of non-Aspies can possibly score high on that test as well, it is not a diagnostic test. Also, that particular test is based upon the theory that people on the spectrum are closer to hunter-gatherer ancestors than NTs are. So many of the questions are based on hunter-gatherer behaviour (ie. the traps question). Do you have any specific reasons based upon what you know about Aspergers? If you are seeing a counsellor, I still suggest you bring up the possibility there.
