I'm looking at Newt Gingrich's contract with American in 1994, and he kept his word to the American People. Am I okay with what Newt did in his personal life, nope. That said of the candidates, he is the best person in the running for President of the United States currently.

If his wives couldn't trust him, we can't trust him. If he can't keep his word to his own wives--we can't trust him to keep his word to the American people. Keeping one's word to one's wife is much more important than any political promise.

He didn't have grandchildren then, he has grandchildren now, he entered this because he is worried about the future of his grandkids.
Having grandchildren often gives people a different perspective on things.
