Short, low maintenance, AS-friendly hairstyles?
I don't think about it much until it gets in the way and bugs the hell out of me. I keep it neat either way, as much as I can. I don't care at all what it looks like to anyone else. Never have.
I cut my own hair and I keep it very short, sort of a pixie style I guess. I cut it very close on the sides and in the back, and leave it a little longer on top. I don't have to style it, I just pat it down while it's wet so it looks smooth and let it air dry. I wear very feminine clothes so I guess that balances out the boyish haircut.

For me as a man, its been shaved, short fade, or long ponytail (doubled up through the rubberband, can't hand the braid hanging down my back). My hair's shortish now, but in the past 6 years I've had 3 haircuts lol.

Anybody here have a very short hairstyle that works for them (without having to use special creams and wax etc.) I want my hair short so it's less traumatic to wash, but it has to be so short that it doesn't touch my face or neck. Any ideas or am I being totally unrealistic?
Depending on the shape of your face, you might try one of those Wynonna Ryder hair styles. It's short but still looks cute and not too butchy. It's a bit longer on top than it is around the face and neck but not too much. Just find a picture of her with short hair and take it to your stylist.

Location: In a quiet and peaceful garden, where gentle Mick Avory-like Sweet Peas grow.
I've stuck with my Mick Avory hair off and on for nearly 16 years. I like it.

I should probably clarify that I'm female.
Thanks for all the suggestions so far, but I'm still unsure about what to do. My Dad say I shouldn't get it cut short because I would look butch. My Mum says I should just get a few inches off until I've made a decision. However, I was hoping that by getting it all cut off at once I could donate it to this charity that makes wigs for children. If I get a bit cut off now, I won't have enough to donate.

Just cut it all off and donate it if that is what you want to do. If you don't like it ... well, hair grows back... (and if it doesn't grow back quickly enough for you there are wigs

I hate having hair falling on my forehead or brushing my neck, or any part of me. My solution is going to seem like the exact opposite of what you want since you stated you "hate hair", but here is what I did, after trying everything: I let it grow. It's almost to my waist now. The huge upside of this is that I sleep with my hair in a braid, so that in the morning it takes 5 seconds to brush. Then I bun it. There are all sort of different buns available, you don't have to look like your grandmother. Not one hair touches me, and I don't have to go and pay a hairdresser a ridiculous amount of money every month to keep it from touching my neck.
Plus, if I want to impress a partner, I have an "instant sexy trick" always handy: let it all down

If you post a picture of yourself people can tell you if they think you would look okay with short hair. Maybe your dad is wrong.
