I checked my queue and shockingly discovered 34 titles (or about 15%) out of 223 in my streaming library is going to be gone by 1/1. What in the world is going on with Netflix? I stayed with them after the pricing increase. Do they not have enough money to cover costs? :(

Prediction: Netflix will issue you an apology e-mail, admitting that they screwed up, but they won't actually change anything at all.

I don't know what's up with that. I remember at least three shows in my queue that said they would be gone by a certain date, but they never went away.

I had my suspicions Netflix hasn't been growing its library of streaming titles since the pricing split. Tonight seems to have confirmed it. There's going to be 34 less streaming titles on January 1st. Since my collection is very diverse I would imagine my 15% actually represent Netflix's entire streaming library. If they have 15,000 titles that's 2,250 television shows and films... gone. Why am I staying with Netflix if they aren't going to grow their library? Wait... I know. They have all Star Trek series! Is that enough to stay? Maybe. I just don't like where Netflix is headed. They used to be a very cool company now I don't know about them... :(

They will frequently re-new the contract for those titles at the last minute.

Idk. They're dropping a bunch of DVD's too. The less popular titles they're pretty laxed at maintaining.

Alan Arkin as Inspector Clouseau - Dropped from Streaming
Tsukikage Ran - Lost in Cyberspace
Bunch of Skate Vids - Lost in Cyberspace
Trigun Badlands Rumble - Lost Somewhere

I'm disappointed enough with Netflix that I've decided to go back to my old ways of obtaining movies.

The fault is not actually with Netflix. It is the providers and production companies deciding that they want to try and make more money by competing, or suddenly asking for 10x more money than they had contracted for. Showtime basically did the latter about a year ago, and others have since done the same.

Netflix is actually being damned by its success.

Yeah, everyone likes to hate on Netflix, but is there really a better alternative for streaming?

Hulu plus has commercials plus subscription fees, amazon prime is a joke, and everything else is pay per stream... :?

There isn't, which is why I continue to use Netflix. It's the lesser of the evils.

I dropped the streaming when they raised their prices. I have broadband and frequently watch movies online, but Netflix's streaming selection at the time was just awful. No idea if it's improved since then.
