1. A laptop that costs $1000, either an orange one or the new sleek Toshiba so that I could have something that has a disc drive?

2. An electronic drum set with a headphone jack for $200 to $600 so that I can drum to The Kinks at home on Fridays instead of joining the Jam Session at Stepping Stones with a bunch of old timers who don't like my style of drumming?

3. A Gazelle Freestyle exercise machine that costs between $200 and $300, so that I can get a morning workout on the days that I don't work?

I say drumset... but go for a good one. I had one that was cheaper and it had a very difficult time with the mounts if I beat it extra hard...

It'll be a great middle between the other 2, since it'll be entertaining like a laptop, but will be physical like an exercise machine...

anyway that's my thoughts :)

I hope whichever you get, that you enjoy your purchase!

I think you should save up for the drum set. Drumming is something you're passionate about, and you should be able to do it within your own home without other people criticizing you. I think drums will give you the most enjoyment out of the three items.

Probably the laptop. I'd rather go for a real drum set over an electronic one, imo, a used real one, assuming your house would allow one. As for the exercise machine, honestly, do you think you'd actually use it? I got some "perfect pushup" things one year, and honestly I never used it. If you go for an exercise machine, don't get a machine, but get something you think is cool. Like, if you'd like rollerblading, go buy rollerblades, or a bike, if you like cycling.

Besides, compared to an elliptical like the freestyle, a much much more fun workout can be done on a slideboard, working the same muscles better imo. A slideboard can be made for like 15 dollars from Lowes or Home Depot. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q4UMZrvQPKc That's a slideboard.

I guess the new laptop, though, as they're very multiuse machines.

Me personally, I'd buy...a welder. Or a lathe. Tools, tools are the best investments you can ever make, they're worth their weight in gold.

Drums! Seriously! They will be much more fun!

If you can afford it and it's not taking away from something you badly need, get them!

I love drums, but I chose a laptop because I think that's what I'd buy.

Drums. Every time. My drumset is my connection to reality.

I intuitively clicked "laptop", but after giving it some thought, I'd go for the exercise machine. I have a treadmill and a stationary bicycle, and without them I'd be in much worse shape and health.

I was thinking that too. Best to wait to get the laptop if you don't really need it for a while because the cost will go down or you can get something better & more powerful for the same amount of money. I hope your able to get your drumset soon Mick
