Yes, that's a good start, and yes, the boy could be taken away if he gets hit again. Just tell the boy to tell you if his father hits him again; telling the police is iffy if he and you want to stay in contact.

Thank you for the advice! We will see what happens. Things have improved a little already, but i will remain skeptical until i see him not being in denial anymore and actually wanting to learn about his son.

But just remember, remembering about a diagnosis isn't always the right way to learn about a person who has been labeled with it. Labels cause people to be seen as something the label says might be true even if it isn't true of that person. The same goes for if a label says "People with AS are usually not like this" but what if someone with AS is?

I will surely keep that in mind. I am usually not the person to put labels on others. I believe in individuality, especially on the autism spectrum. What i want to do is give my nephew and his parents a viewpoint on how to cope with different steps in the life of an autistic kid. And the rest should happen by experiencing their kid. I cannot be around to help him forever, but i want all of them to learn as much as possible without my interference.

Just use examples that actually apply to their son; no assumptions that he's probably like this or that because he's autistic. :)

I won't, but thank you for mentioning it!

I often wonder if I am perceived, possibly just ignored because I am annoying. This unwanted thing wants to be a part of your club.

Hello every one. May I join this unpopular club? I have been posting on the wrongplanet.net forums for the last few weeks, and only a few of my postings have received any responses. It is making me feel sad. Hopefully I will fit in here with the rest of you.

Hi everyone.

I think it's hard with internet forums for people to acknowledge everyone. Everyone is welcome here.

Wonderful and right on da so-called money :)

I don't feel fit to post here, though...because I am far more social irl (not saying I'm GOOD at irl chatting, tho, lol) than online.

I can't really reply to other posts well, cuz' OMGBRAINSPLODEYS there's SO many, and SO many I'd want to reply to! It kinda feels like the "mailroom" of *insert diety of choice here*. Not religious, as many aren't anymore, but I use such analogies for the sake of sheer "abstraction" or, in this case...Overwhelming amount of content :p

I actually hit a wall of being too social, and wanting to talk to, and learn about, like...so MANY ppl that my brain just makes a funny, sizzling whoopee cushion sound, and I find myself running to my "offline" pets, or rock collecting, despite myself \xD

Well anyways...I digress..

What I wanna say if this idea isn't "genius", it's at least fairly close. And really...even better, it's tackling one of those issues everyone knows about, but doesn't wanna mention.

U see the problem, u STATE the problem, and THEN, most importantly, you TACKLE the problem in a way thats non-confrontational, AND WORKS.

Thumbs up!

I am unpopular everywhere. It is actually better or worse to be unpopular among autistics / on autism sites than out in the neurotypical world? Either way.

I enjoy reading your posts. Why do you think you're unpopular here? :D

^ Just a general assumption. Not to be confused with particularly caring one way or another.
But also, unfortunately, this site is getting very exclusive with people's little "cliques." I don't clique.

Me too. I have never been part of any kind of "clique" before. I am also much more social online than in person.
