I'm 32 years old, and I have an 8 month old daughter. I know females will have a lower chance of getting Asperger's than male, so I'm not THAT worried about her, but we are currently talking about getting another kid. So my worries are basicly what the chances for getting a child with AS is when I have AS.

It would be more accurate to say self diagnosed with PDD-NOS, I think.

I'm dx'd with AS and have four children and a grandchild who do not have it (that I know of - I didn't know I had it or that it existed until a few years ago)

My kids are 22 boy, (he has a 2 yo daughter) 18 girl, 17 boy, 15 girl

Sorry but if you have AS or if your partner has AS your child is quite likely to inherit it as well. I have 2 daughters who are both spectrumites, as am I & their dad. There's a genetic component for us. My oldest daughter just confirmed with me yesterday she was once again DXd (2nd time around-1st was about 6 years ago) with Aspergers. Some people get mild versions & some have greater impairments.

I am autistic and so are a number of my daughters. My husband is also autistic. My nephew is also autistic, which came from me.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but a "nephew" is the son of your brother or sister, isn't it? That means if it came from you, you and your brother/sister had a child, which in most cultures are wrong. But my money would be on a typo of some sort. :?

Thanks for the replies thus far guys'n'girls, I guess I will just have to keep a watchful eye for signs in my newborn.

I'm diagnosed with AS, but I don't have any children at all.
