OK, this question seems random, but today we were talking about how some people seem to colours differently. apparently, this is because of little differences in people's eyes and because of the way people assign names to colours. For example, back in Grade 6, I was doing a craft with blue paper t in the hall and an acquaintance (now a friend) walked by and said "That's a nice purple" and I said "What do you mean? It's blue!" Another example is the fact that my dad thought my Grandma's car was green, but I think it was blue.

We also have a hard time with red and orange. Like this tent:

My dad thinks it's orange and I think it's red.

What do you think?

I am talking about the fly (the top of the tent), not the other part.

Its actually differing from pink to red depending on the transparency of the material. It also has shades of purple in it.

But your going to have issues having any true results out of this due to the fact monitors aren't always color-accurate. I actually have dual color accurate monitors...

I am not going for super accurate results, it's OK.

When I was very young, I got into an argument with an NT. She asked me to buy a blue file for her, so I did. When I showed her the file, she snapped at me, saying, "I asked you to buy a blue file! Why did you buy me a violet file instead?" Anyway, I voted "red".

It's a hot pinkish shade of red.

It's scientifically proven that men and women perceive colors differently. Women can perceive a wider range of colors than men, which is why icyfire4w5's NT acquaintance got angry when he got the "wrong" color - the difference between the two colors was subtle enough for a woman to detect but not a man. I'd imagine there's probably also a correlation with men being the ones who go colorblind much more often than women.

But to answer the original question - I see the tent as bright red.

Yeah, if you google it you can see why guy's are more likely to be colorblind

Pretty much if one parent is colorblimd or the mom is a carrier then the son will be. If both parents are then the daughter will be

Look at this image:

Image

The two labelled squares are actually the same colour.

This shows that context is very important in deciding colour. The tent in the picture might actually be a colour that I would call pink in a different context. But since the context is that light is hitting it, and it's thin and therefore slightly transparent, I call it red.
