Ok, so I was trying to fix a problem I was having with my desktop computer not loading up pages most of the time, but in doing so I ended up with a bigger problem. Now I have an unidentified network with a caution sign in between my computer and the router and then an x between that and the internet.

I tried uninstalling the network adapter drivers and reinstalling them. No good. I tried fixing the sharing options for the networks to "Turn on network discovery," "printer sharing," etc. But they won't stay there. Every time I go to check them they go back to "turn off."

Being a computer guy that can't even fix his own computer is kind of overstimulating me and it's probably best that I go to bed and figure this out in the morning, so I'll probably leave this message up here tonight before I head to bed. Anyways, any answers would be appreciated and thanks in advance.

There isn't enough information for me to personally know right off..

However, do you remember what all you changed? Theoretically, if you change the settings all back, it will work (as well as it did before).. Theoretically

Ok, fortunately, I have a redundant drive and i booted off of that, but I still have the problem that I was initially trying to fix. It's nothing big, that is to say webpages don't load up properly or at all, unless I reload them a few times. Eventually everything works, but I have to go through this each time I open the browser. That and Windows can't connect to update. I fear this may be a problem with the network adapter, which is onboard.

Honestly the easiest thing to do is to format one drive and re-install your OS and drivers then pull all the back-up data off the Raid.

Well, you see the cloned drive that I'm using now is a few weeks behind the main drive and it was working perfectly ok then and it's the old clone that I'm using now, so it can't be a software problem, because it's still having issues. I could just take it to someone, but I don't want to wrack up repair costs, but then again I know the one guy and his diagnosises are free and I can just go from there.

I hate when my computer has a problem that I can't solve with a simple software fix and I hate completely redoing windows, because of it's lengthy process and countless hours and on top of that with all my anxiety from the overstimulation it causes, I end up feeling sick for days and sometimes hate going near it after that.

You guys are silly. Pull plug on router and cable modem. Forget the network info if its wireless. Reboot computer, plug in everything again after a minute and you should hopefully have internet. I've seen this issue before, but searching unidentified network via google will give you trouble shooting info also. Remember, unlug the router and modem, and wait.

If you've already tried this then keep tapping things until it works. Windows is cranky, its always touch and go. Honestly if you haven't unplugged the router and let it sit a few minutes I would be shocked right now.

That should work.

The network cable was going bad. It's working just fine now.
