welcome to our neat little club 
when i had health coverage that covered mental health issues, i took advantage of it to get a professional dx of my various addlements, and that is when my suspicions were confirmed that i, too, had AS. luckily, so far, i don't seem to have IBS. but mr. arthur itis is also a ton of unfun, AFAIC. anyways, the dx sort of served as a punctuation [!] on the earlier stage of my life [not knowing for sure if i had it], differentiating it from the latter stage of my life ["so i have it, now what?"].
