So i have been twisting strands of my hair for years now. I do not have any other rituals that i consider to be possible stims.
Does anyone else do this ?.

Yes, I twist/twirl my hair all the time. Stroke it, too.
A lot of people seem to think it's quite a feminine behaviour for some strange reason.

by twisting i mean actually twisting the hair round so that it can be pulled out rather than just twisting it round the fingers in a thoughtful way.

i did. the majority of it is twisting but i do pull it out. not on my head though. it causes minor pain but if its somewhere it would hurt too much then i wouldnt pull it from that area.

I twist my hair all the time. I play with it in other ways too.

Twirling, twisting, spinning, swinging... Aspies just love rotating objects. In first grade I used to swing my arm around in circles like an imaginary airplane propeller almost to the point of dislocating my shoulder. Of course it might also be said that this is non-Aspie behavior since it demonstrates imaginative play.

I play with my hair all the time. I also pull out hairs one by one, especially if I'm anxious. I try not to for fear of developing a full-blown case of trichitellomania.

do you just yank them out really quick or do you twist them into a breakable position and then yank them out?
