In Argentina, April 13th, a woman miscarried her baby. 12 hours later, the hospital discharged her. She and her husband insisted they wanted to say 'Goodby' to their baby girl one last time.
They were taken to the hospital morgue, the metal drawer was opened, the baby's body was inside a box. When the box was opened, the mother heard a whimper and the baby's hand moved! She had been sent to the morgue alive!

She is now in an NICU, has been named Luz Milagros, 'Light of Miracles'!

Sounds miraculous to me.....

It does sound like an amazing story. My only concern is that those hours, minus medical assistance, may have caused damage. Given that the baby was very premature, she should have received neonatal care from the moment of her birth. I hope she is OK.

I have to wonder how many times a baby hadn't been saved in the nick of time.

Argentina is a very poor, backward country. A century ago, it was the world's 10th richest nation. But decades of misrule has destroyed it. The hospitals are rundown and there's generally not much in the way of medical care. The rich have ok care. The poor have virtually no care.

I dare say, a warning to America.

most of the poor are already aware of this...why do you think many of us educate ourselves on all the things that can be done to help injuries or sickness without going to a doctor or hospital due to not being able to afford either.

A blog by an Argentine. He talks a lot about the similarities between Argentina and America, and readers email him examples they see. By the way, he escaped, and now lives in Northern Ireland of all places.

I'm surprised the "miscarriage" was placed in it's own box, and wasn't just discarded with the rest of the waste.
Lucky!

This whole "Argentina was so rich in the past" stuff is nonsense. Labour's share of output was around 40% back then, in the US now it's 58% and that's a new low after many decades. Argentina's wealth was totally exported and benefited almost no one in Argentina. Why do you think Peron was so popular? Instead, he is blamed for "destroying the miracle" - one where workers just got 40%.

Miscarriage : Loss of embryo/fetus prior to 20th week of gestation.

If the baby in this case was truly deceased, it would have been a stillbirth, not a miscarriage.

Sorry, Yippy Skippy, she was six months pregnant. I used the wrong word.

I only mentioned it to explain why the baby was being prepared for burial/cremation and not tossed in the trash.

That was a close call. It's a good thing the baby was saved.

Aren't preterm born babies evaluated for brain death?
My neurology textbook states that observation of newborns should last at least 72 h with EEG. 12 hours is a short period of time.
