My family have two little yorkies and for some reason there barking is really hurting my ears. It's odd! They bark everyday randomly but today it's really getting to me. I'm trying to figure out what's wrong. I felt sick all day yesterday and the past few days felt drained and tired I feel good in the morning then as the day winds into afternoon and evening I'm tired and feel out of energy. Today my sensory issues are crazy. The dogs barking (which normally NEVER bothers me) is really getting on my nerves. Has anyone had days like this? Thanks.

Quite often when I find my sensory issues seem to be getting a lot worse, or if I have a huge draining meltdown, it's because I'm getting sick with the flu. Maybe you're coming down with something?

Great Autism issues get worse when you are sick! Never thought of that one. :-( I've also changed my diet back to a favorite food (spaghetti noodles with garlic and parmesan.) compared to weight watchers meals (I'm not trying to lose weight) but the weight watchers meals ARE healthier for you so perhaps diet is a concern. Hopefully I'm not coming down with something. :-) Thanks!

my sensory issues get worse when I am tired or hungry. Try and get some extra sleep. If you are getting sick, the sleep will do you good anyway. Also, change in diet really messes me up in general so I wouldn't rule that out. I vote for extra fluids to help your body process the change in food and again. if you are getting sick, fluids are always helpful.

:-) Thanks. I'm a hypochondriac of sorts so my mind always goes to the worst idea possible I've watched to many medical shows on t.v. LOL! :-) Hopefully the diet or sleep is the main culprit and not something ripped from a medical show. :-)

That made me smile. Turns out, for me, Asperger's was my mystery diagnosis. Hope you feel better soon.

They absolutely do vary in intensity from time to time, which can be a relief, wouldn't want it to be all super bad all the time, right?

Maybe try ear plugs if you can. Dogs who bark just kill my head, ugh. I love dogs though, but can't handle the barking sometimes.

I know for sure things adjust and are worse, I have pin pointed why, however I do think when you're getting sick can be worse. Once I got dizzy for half a week and my dr said that could just be from some kind of virus or sinus infection making everything all dizzy while your body is fighting it off. At least now that I know that things can be better sometimes and worse other times, I can pay attention to myself and try to be nice to myself even though I am having a worse day with sensory issues and not try to force myself. There are often other days to handle things better. so it is good to know that.

hope you feel better. :)

Hearing and touch are what give me the most problems as far as sensory issues go, and both will fluctuate.

One day or week, I'll have a lot of issues with sounds, the next, I'll have fewer.

After being exposed to a lot of loud noise, like after playing louder shows (like ones at theaters rather than the ones at smaller bars, unless the shape of the room is such that it reflects noise and makes things very very loud), I will be much more sensitive to noise. Just someone talking to me at a normal volume will hurt sometimes.

Mine get worse at times. My clothes feel fine on me and then other times they feel scratchy and feel like they are poking at my skin. Sometimes sound gets to me too because it seems louder than it really is. Heck even my son's cries bother me too sometimes and his loud noise he makes with his mouth. I have worn ear plugs for that. I have also put him in his room and shut the door so I could concentrate and not get so overwhelmed. That happens when my mind gets too focused on something and I can't deal with his crying or loud noises he is making.

My mother seems to have issues too with sounds but it happens when she is really tired. She can't even take crowds either. It also happens when she has had a hard day at work, she is more sensitive.

I'm sensitive to noise and light. Sunlight is a bother all the time and noise it depends. I also don't like crowds but it also depends. I can walk down a very crowded loud street in NYC and be fine because I have lived here all my life and know what to expect. I can not however deal with that in New Jersey where I expect it to be quiet and I can not stand crowded stores I just get very upset.

I am definitely more sensitive to certain types of noise and certain types of light some days than others.

I also have days where I am more acutely impressed with certain sensory input, like sunsets or soothing sounds.
