I'm 43, lived through the full transition...

And I'm confused.

Words mean different things to when I was born.

And I just don't know what people mean with everything in flux.

What is "respect"? Seems to mean different things across the gender divide. Does it mean "treat as a human" - or does it mean "venerate"? I don't know.

alcockell - you're right to be confused by this thread.

This is one of those threads where women are discussed as if they were a different species and that the responsibility for establishing a relationship depends on them. Women are not vain and shallow if they don't take extra time and effort to get to know you. They are people with other demands on their attention and time and you are not the centre of the universe.

Women do NOT want bad boys. This is such a fallacy. Someone choose high-adrenalin, high-conflict partners because they have problems themselves.

Doesn't help when the loudest voices and memes shared on Facebook and the like seem to reflect massive doses of narcissism in the loudest female voice...

"You're an adjunct to my life, but I want ALL your attention and resources".

I seem to recall a time when things were different...

There's an easy way to avoid the stereotypically money-grubbing women (who, honestly, are a teeny-tiny minority of women) is to 1) invite a woman you've just met on cheap/free dates and 2) dump a girl if you get the sense she's after your $$ rather than you.

I was seen as a faux nice guy on this forum but offline I was seen as too nice. Women thought I was a good friend but never had any interest beyond that probably cuz they weren't attracted to my many quirks & disabilities.
