I collect various types of merchandise that's related to my favourite band. I might need to move into a larger place, soon.

Lionel trains. I have one train set that my brother got for christmas in the early 70s. One car is a Lionel red CN (Canadian National) hopper car. They are very common and cheap to buy on ebay and at train shows and swap meets. I have 57 of them with 1 more on its way here and another I am bidding on on ebay. I'm hoping to reach having 100 of them.
I have about 1000 Hot Wheels and almost all of them are opened out of the package.
I have over 200 of the little plastic dowels that are left when the printer tape is replaced in the kitchen of the pizza place where I work. I have no idea what I am going to do with them.
I have Erector sets but hardly use them.
I have a lot of car and train magazines. Maybe as many as 1000.
I have a lot of car and lawn equipment brochures. Maybe as many as 500.
I have a storage full of lawn equipment from a lawn service I used to have and from parting out free and cheap mowers I have picked up from CL or while out delivering pizza.
I have tons of papers from the past from not dealing with most anything that has to do with paperwork.

About my sports collection: Given how pro sports works these days (the free agency climate being prevalent), my cap/jersey collection serves as a metaphor for free agency; just root for your favorite player.

It reminds me of a joke Jerry Seinfeld cracked once about how sports players are moving from team to team, when ya boil it down, you are rooting for their clothes. :D

MONKEY and IdahoRose, I like to do the same thing with stuffed animals - I buy the ones that look sort of sad and unloved, and I take them home and fix/clean them up. I did that once with a Spongebob plush that I found in a pile of trash on someone's curb in my neighborhood....it was the neighborhood's "big trash pickup" week. Poor Spongebob was all soaked with water and dirt, and I pulled him out of the pile of trash, took him home, and cleaned him up. When he was clean, he looked just like new! :D

MONKEY, I think you are soooo lucky that you get to work in a place where you can easily rescue stuffed animals that need some extra love. :D

Here's a list of things I collect (and things I used to collect):

Things I used to collect:

- Pokemon cards (I didn't play the game; I just liked the artwork on the cards)

- Beanie Babies

- Stickers

- Happy Meal toys

- Keychains (I still collect these, but not as much anymore)

- Ceramic/sculptured figurines

- Little plastic Disney toys

- Anything related to my current special interest at the time

Things I currently (and always have) collect(ed):

- Stuffed animals/plushies

- Anything related to my favorite animals: dolphins, whales (cetaceans), crows, ravens (corvidae), raccoons

- Where the Wild Things Are stuff

- Buttons and pins

- My Little Ponies (G1 and G4)

- Anything related to my favorite animated characters

- Die cast Cars and anything related to the "Cars" movies

- Comic strip book collections (The Far Side, Get Fuzzy, Calvin and Hobbes, Cow and Boy, Peanuts, The Boondocks)

- My favorite songs in MP3 format

- Anything related to my current special interests

I collect penguin related things I'm also trying to collect comics but as anyone who is into comics know they aren't priced like they used to be. When I'm able to get a job of my own I'd like to start a tea pot collection. I guess I collect video games too but those are even worse off money wise than the comics. I used to collect precious moments when I was younger. I almost forgot about my book collection too but I don't read as much as I should. :(

I collect movie things & tarot cards. As for the stuff from movies, apart from the usual things like licensed jewelery or costumes, I even have the Sith clothing and a licensed Obi-Wan lightsaber. My heart thing. I would not sell it for a million.

I collect digital music with an emphasis on classical. I bought a 512GB flash drive from China which I plan to transfer my collection to and keep it with me at all times just in case.

I briefly knew a man who used to carry ALL his books down in his shirt. His protruding midriff was a site to see as he walked down the street. Needless to say, the school kids picked on him fiercely because he was probably homeless, too. I've since incorporated the book man into my novel.

I used to collect rocks, but then one of my rocks ended up in the washing machine and did a number on it, so my mom says no more rocks.

I have a collection of cat related memorabilia. Most of it is in my room on my shelves. It also includes cat books that are on their own shelves.

I also have all 50 state quarters, and I keep them in a special case for them that I got for my 13th birthday.

I collect decorative erasers, cupcake-shaped and fruit-shaped stuff, and things shaped like pom poms.

I also collect figurines of my favorite characters.

I can't really say I collect anything, but I do have a lot of random things. So I guess I kind of collect random things. I do have parts we manufacture from 4 of the 12 processes. They're cool to look at and fiddle with.

I have a collection of carabiners, not the cheap key chain trinkets, but real ones that mountain climber’s use. My mom calls it a variation of the “Shiny Object Syndrome”, dad says they’re useful. I agree with him.

Not shocked about the cat stuff, but I too, collect coins. I like foreign money. I have money from over ten different countries.
