It's the night before my Pre-Calculus final exam. True, I did stay up later than usual to study some more. But when I was ready to go to bed, the following prevented me from being able to (and provoked me to write this ranting post):

A. Marijuana smoke flowing into my room (and completely filling it) through the air duct which is attached to my pot-smoking roomate's room

B. Loud rap music from the room below mine, the room above mine, and the rooms beside mine. A cacophony of "f**k", "s**t", "shorty", "b***h", "ho", "i want to f****n' X in Y amount of time"...stuff nobody but an imbecile would so unashamedly write into a song.

C. My pot-smoking roomate's turned the thermostat up to 80 degrees (and has been turning it up to 88 degrees). In my room, with the windows shut, the temperature rises to something more along the lines of 90 degrees.

Because of A, B, and C, in unison, I AM GOING INSANE! I AM ALMOST ABOUT TO SLEEP IN MY CAR IN 20 degree weather!

Because of A and B, I have to sleep every night with eye covers and heavy-duty 33 decibel ear plugs (which don't completely do the job) . Is that not insane? My ears are painful as a result of the ear plugs, and my accidental use of the eye covers on top of dry contacts I was wearing resulted in a scraped cornea which I had to take to the campus doctor to check out except the desk clerk mischeduled my appointment and then lied to cover it up. i may have permanent vision damage as a result, i am still waitign to get it checked out

Because of C, I am now having to leave my window open to 20 degree weather and raise the blinds. a six lane highway is right outside and the noise from cars and idiots who enjoy screeching their tires for fun in the 25 mph zones around campus is now ENSURING that I have to wear the earphones every night. And, since the sodium vapor lamps outside are bright enough to read a book by, they are ENSURING that I have to wear the eye covers every night.

I can't talk to my roomate about these problems, because I know what the answer will be. I know he hates me too because I overheard him making fundamental attribution errors about me one after another to some guy outside. he said, "So what? I don't care if he has a problem with my cussing. He can't take a little cussing?" And I have never mentioned cussing to him.

I've stopped getting mail. Used to, my other roomate would bring mail to me. I didn't really like that, but did say thank you. when i started picking up my own mail, for some reason, i stopped getting mail. i cannot help but wonder in the very back of my mind if my mail is being trashed by my other roomate

I don't have an asperger's diagnosis but i will fake my results on a doctor's add/adhd exam if it gets me out of my dorm contracts....

Everything is combinining, one problem after another, and it's all because i'm living in the dorms.

would i rather deal with this crap or deal with a hefty pay check and no spending money (but a nice apartment)?

Do you and your pot smoking roommate share a room? If you don't, he's not your roommate.

Yes, but its still his responsibility to ensure that his bad habit doesn't intimidate/provoke others. Besides, pot smoking is illegal so we can always blackmail :)

My former neighbour(who has moved by now) felt like playing s**t rap music in the middle of the night until 4am. And a moderation in volume was out of question. They kicked him out for this but it took a long time to make things happen so I understand you being frustrated about loud music.

Hope everything works out :)

Simply ask and describe your situation - Don't demand/force anything but rather persuade..

And dont black mail the pot smokers - if you want a negative reaction, thats the route to go..

Did you say that wasn't proper? Did you march out on the track?
You were quiet, just like mice. And now you say that we're not nice.
Well thank you buddy for your advice...

Is there not a Resident Assistant in your dorm you can talk to?
