When I was younger, I was obsessed with the fantasies that played out in my head. They were the only thing that gave my life any meaning. I catered to them to the expense of all else. On non-school days, basically all I would do is eat and fantasize. I attended to my personal hygiene only infrequently. I kept my social contact limited to school hours, and I rarely bothered to do homework.

However, in recent years, I have let go of the fantasies, and learned how to live a more "normal" life. This means that I have added several aspects to my life that I never would have bothered with when I was younger. These days, I shower and brush my teeth everyday. I make an honest effort at school. I don't shun socialization as much as I used to. I have even completed a succussful internship this semester. I also keep coming back to this site, even though part of me wishes I had never joined.

All of this requires constant attention to things that I rarely cared about in the past. If I want to move forward in my life, I need to keep up my grades, maintain the friendships I have developed through this site, finish my book, and get my college degree. I also handle a great deal of stress, mostly brought about by wondering whether I can keep up with the demands, or if I will have another ugly collapse like I have had in the past. All of this takes time and energy, and sometimes I wish that I could just forget it all and retreat back into my own head.

In short, I'm tired of being an adult! I want to be a kid again!

Thanks. I just needed to vent.

Hi there werbert,
it looks like you have really been getting your act together.I wish I was at a place where I could do half the things you were talking about. All of those things do take alot of time, effort and energy. You definitely get an "A"for effort from me.Not that I am an authority on anything. Are you giving yourself some quality me time?Doing the things that you really enjoy.I find this sometimes helps me to re-charge.I think that you would be missed by alot of people her at WP.When I first joined up here I was in a really dark place. You were the first person that I said anything to.You put a smile on my dial. Thanks for sharing some sunshine. Before you said you were writing a book I am wondering what it is about?Goldie-06.

Well, putting smiles on other people's dials is one of the things I enjoy, so I'm glad I could help.

Werbert, I am not going to post any Cristmas Cards this year, so I just wanted to to say "Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year" because I don't know what else to say.

Although

That's good. One would think that, after listening to Christmas music for FOUR HOURS A DAY AT WORK SINCE THE MIDDLE OF NOVEMBER, I might have a little Christmas spirit in me.

But I don't. My Christmas spirit has been beaten lifeless. It is listed in critical condition at Kentfordfurthingshireham General Hospital.

Speaking of Christmas, I had to phone Cabelas about an order, and they said "happy holidays" !

Americans say that for real?! :?

I thought Americans were more religious than us. At least we still remember what the holiday is for.

Yeah its political correctness not to offend. I would say people rarely say it to each other but in bussiness communications they normalily say "happy hoilday" "season grettings" etc
