Post-Punk/New Wave
Television, Public Image Ltd, Teenage Jesus and the Jerks, Gang of Four, The The, Orange Juice, Joy Division (and I liked New Order way before I liked Joy Division, so them too), Echo & the Bunnymen, The Jesus and Mary Chain (who were sometimes post punk-ish). I like The Cure and The Chameleons a bit, as I defined it on this board before my knowledge of The Cure is probably the average non-fan's. And I like The Horrors the most out of the post-punk revival groups.

My favourite DM song is this:

But since it's not post punk-ish, my favourite DM-related song by only one member of DM is this:

From that era I like the Gang Of Four, Bauhaus, Peter Murphy, and many others. It's interesting. I grew up listening to Joy Division. Little did I realize how influential they'd become. You just never know.

Bauhaus is amazing. And yeah, Joy Division has become fairly popular. Or at least I run into people who know at least one or two songs. I was actually introduced to them through Tony Hawk's Underground (Lol). It had 'Warsaw' on it and from there I listened to other songs. From there I went to New Order. Jesus & Mary Chain I'd consider Post-Punk too.

PIL. I like this version better than the one from, "This is what you want... This is what you get."

OMD!

I like TFF's Mad World more than the cover.
For post-punk, mostly I like Joy Division:

And also their labelmates Pauline Murray & The Invisible Girls:

For new wave - I guess it depends on exactly what qualifies but I'm a huge New Order fan and also Pet Shop Boys, and to a lesser extent Information Society, Erasure, Tears for Fears, Duran Duran, Echo & The Bunnymen, etc.
Joy Division (Found out about them via reading a New Order article in 2006. I feel like the only person alive in my area who knows who they are.)
New Order (Via hearing Blue Monday in 2005 on the radio)
The Sound (Via typing in "postpunk" in google - I personally like them more than Joy Division though Joy Division is more raw and has much better lyrics)
Gang of Four (I don't remember how I found out about them)
Depeche Mode (Probably via radio)
a-ha (Via my brother's ex-girlfriend)
The Jam (Via the Oasis website saying Noel and Gem guested on Weller's single "Echoes Round the Sun")
As for the post punk/new wave revivalists:
Editors (Via R.E.M.'s cover of Munich on BBC's Radio 1)
The Cinematics (Via Pandora)
White Lies (Via Pandora)
Morning Parade (Via some weird indie music site)
Two Door Cinema Club (Via Amazon)
To be honest I'm not sure if The Jam as a whole count as post punk but they have a few brilliant songs like Scrape Away that I consider post punk.

Big fan of this style of music.
Echo & The Bunnymen above all (my other true musical heroes are all in the metal or goth tag, except if you would consider Sophya to be borderline newwave... i'd rather call it dream pop)
Love Bauhaus too, not just their hits but also some lesser known material. Passion of Lovers, Hollow Hills, Slice of life, All we ever wanted was Everything, Burning from the inside, ... not as famous as Double Dare, Dark Entries, She's in Parties, Bela Lugosi's dead, but certainly as good. The intro of Burning from the Inside is a masterpiece in this style of music.
Love Soft Cell too. The whole Non-stop Erotic Cabaret: close your eyes and you dream off to the sleezy alleys of the Soho area with its brothels. The album creates a dark, somewhat "must stay hidden" atmosphere and Marc Almond's vocals are fitting perfectly. Ironically I find "Youth" their best song, while it is probably one of the most antitypical Soft Cell songs. They also had great music videos.
Also like some songs by Siouxsie (I find her less known songs often to be better than her hits. Best songs: Hong Kong Garden, Red light, Rhapsody, Face to Face, Israel, Spellbound, ... songs like Red Light are very dark but not very well known, Rhapsody --where she displays her vocal reach to full extent-- was never even a single release)
Some songs by Joy Division (mainly Day Of The Lords, and Disorder)
Some songs by The Cure (especially Charlotte Sometimes, Lovesong, Fascination Street, The Hanging Gardens, and in a guilty pleasure way Why Can't I Be You)
"Marian" and "Alice" by Sisters of Mercy (whom I dislike in general, these two songs being the exception)
Also love Indochine, they were the first French language new wave act but in that era French music was mainly traditional chanson, no alternative music. Indochine paved the path for many to follow, they introduced the French audience to alternative music in their own language. Prior to them, all alternative music had to come from abroad and was sung in mainly English.
Also worth to check out are Belgian goth/newwave outfit The Breath of Life (the ONLY Belgian band in this genre of music who did not cease to exist relatively soon after their first recordings) and Israeli newwave band HaMachshefot (חמַחשֵׁפוֹת)
A gem whose records are worth a lot due to being so rare: Chinese all-female new wave/gothic band Cobra. Except for some footage on YouTube filmed with an amateur camera and some CDs that were smuggled out of the country to Germany, little is documented about them. The government didn't authorise them so they had to perform in small hidden venues, still managed to release an entire album.
German all-female (initially) band X-Mal Deutschland is very good, check songs such as "Polarlicht", "Orient", ...
I don't know if you'd count them as newwave, neofolk or gothic, it's a hard to categorise band... but Russian band Moon Far Away is brilliant too. Pity their records are hard to get outside of Russia.
Not sure if you'd consider Kirlian Camera to be new wave? Virgin Prunes are another borderline case.
Also, don't forget Nick Cave in his Birthday Party era.

I recommend the following songs by them:
Numb Boys
Replacement
Such Verve
The Dull Miles
It's rather late at night so I don't want to go post the links because I'm too tired but they are all on youtube.
