I read that some aspies like to rock back and forth and find it soothing. I never did this before and today I was curious as to how it would feel. After 30 seconds I started feeling dizzy, it felt very awkward and not good at all. Not something I will ever do again. So do you actually enjoy rocking your self back and forth?

I enjoy it. It doesn't make me dizzy, but it can be centering. It helps a lot with anxiety, too.

At times I rock back and forth. Generally, though, I shake my legs. These aren't "choices." They just happen.

I do something similar when I sit down, I move my right leg up and down after a while of sitting still.

I don't do it myself but an acquaintance of mine with diagnosis does. It looks a bit weird, even to my eyes. Like Verdandi above, he says it helps with anxiety.

I have always done it, but it has nothing to do with anxiety for me. It is just one of my default behaviors.

My leg moves most of the time. If I am sitting (and not slouching against the back of the seat as if I am half laying down) I rock back and forth, this happens even more often if I am concentrating. It is not something I think about doing, and most of the time I do not notice I do it, but others point it out to me.

If I am stressed I might rock while standing, play with and pop my fingers, and/or shake my hands. Again this mostly unconsciously done.

I rock. Stimming just happens automatically like breathing. There is no a conscious effort to rock myself back and fourth. but I like it.

I don't rock because of anxiety, but when I have anxiety, rocking helps.

Sometimes I rock without knowing it. I do it all the time.

I never used to until I heard about it, then tried it one day and found it really helped with anxiety, so I just incorporated it into my pre-existing stims. Now it's about 50/50 as to whether it's deliberate or unconscious, sometimes I'll find myself doing it without realising.

I've just noticed that I tend to rock back and forth at times. It helps me to focus, especially when I pray a rosary.

Only in a rocking chair. I don't seem to see rocking chairs very much any more. They used to be quite common fifty years ago.

One thing I have always done is lean back. Way way back. I've had chairs fall over on me before and I've broken chairs as well.

I do it when I'm distressed, but only mildly.
