I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer october 9th and my thyroid was removed on Halloween this year 10/21/12.. that was quite stressful and painful! that was the first step of treatment now I am on step 2 the low iodine diet. I HATE this diet! it has caused its own meltdowns .. I have another 6 or 7 days left on it. The diet is very restrictive and ha limited my already limited diet..

low iodine diet things I cant eat

processed fooda like caned soups kraft mac and cheese chicken nuggets

eggs with yolks

prepaird foors (no eating at resteruants)

no fish *dont eat it anyways*

no dairy (except a bt of un salted butter)

only 6 ounce of meat a day

1 cup of rice or pat that doesnt have salt or eggs in it a meal

nothig with red dye

i can only have non iodizedsalt

No soy

more info here Low Iodine Diet

Tomorrow i get a shot and blood work, tuesday I will get a shot an a iodine tracer pill then Wednesday step 3 the radioactive iodine pill (radiation pill)

I really really HATE shots :( I have a panic attack when ever I have to get them and always end up having a meltdown from them. Now I have to get 2 intramuscular shots in 2 days! this is not going to be a fun week at all :(

I try really hard not to complain but I really needed to vent :(

That sounds really frustrating. I hope your treatment is successful.

Also, you're being treated for cancer. You have every right to complain if you want to.

Try asking for a dose of something for the panic attacks before the injections.
