Good link. Thanks. I agree with the page you linked to that it's irresponsible and even dangerous to scare people with these predictions, some can be so impressionable. I'll never forget the Heavens Gate suicides - over a comet! That (the comet Hale-Bopp) and a charismatic character who convinced people of his personal delusions. That happened near where I lived at the time. To me a comet passing was an astronomical event I wanted to see, a fascinating real-universe occurrence. Those people turned it into a crazy thing.
Besides which, a space ship as part of a religious belief? I can't help recalling Captain Kirk saying, "What does God need with a space ship?"
The 2012 end-of-the-world myth started making the rounds decades ago. I recall people talking about it in relation to the Mayan calendar when I was in high school in the 70s. I will be so glad, on 12-22, when that is finally disproved. But I'm sure someone will immediately come up with another doomsday prediction.
