computer's online amnesia after automatic windows 7 update

hello from digitally clueless moi
to the point- what would cause my computer to forget how to go online, right after an automatic windows 7 system OS update? i lost my internet for 3 days, [tech support was useless] until it occured to me to engage system restore to the point right before the last windows automatic update. et voila! i'm back on, but i need to know if i let it do any more automatic updates, will i lose my internet again? and furthermore, why is this so? thanx in advance to anybody who gives me a sensible answer.

that why i switch it off on my computer.

Between you and me, Windows Update is not always necessary to run. If you have the latest Service Pack, and you have an antivirus and all that, I would suggest you disable Windows Updates for now and wait till a much later time to run them.

If the net problem persists after that next time, you may have to reinstall the drivers for the net or do a Winsock Fix or whatever. But for now, just disable the Updates.

i think i'll do just that.
