Many people think there is a link between vaccines and autism, because they saw a drastic change in their child after he/she was vaccinated. Supposedly this has something to do with a mercury-based preservative called thimerosal in the US (or thiomersal in some other countries) which is/was found in most vaccines. Governments, pharmaceutical companies and medical establishments have denied any connection, but are nonetheless removing thimerosal from vaccines in most developed countries.

It recently occurred to me that if this is true, and if thimerosal is/was also present in allergy shots, then there should be a higher incidence of Asperger's/autism in people who have been given allergy shots for allergies or asthma (in addition to the regular childhood vaccines). That would certainly help explain my situation...

Does anyone know if this is the case?

Does anyone know what the incidence of autism is among people with allergies or asthma, and if this incidence is higher than among the general population?

Or what percentage of people on the spectrum have/had allergies/asthma, compared to the percentage of the general population?

I think it's more likely that (some cases of) autism could have an autoimmune contributing cause, say roughly similar to Guillain-Barre or PANDAS.

This rather than the toxicity of mercury itself.

I have always had seasonal allergies. When I was a child I took an allergy shot once a week. I later went off them. But when I was an adult I tried allergy shots again and had a reaction to them. So, I no longer take allergy shots.

I had traits of Autism long before I had allergy symptoms. But I did take shots for several years, my mother for 10 years. (After I was born.)
