what I want to know, IS...why not just fill the dang glass up to the top, so that way you have more delicious juice, and we can all come to an agreement?

I'm an optimist when it comes to other people (though my wife says it is more like naivety), but a pessimist when it comes to myself.

Having hope in people isn't naive. It is fairly illogical, yes, but it isn't naive. Naivety is more to believe they will always do good choices, rather than that they will try to most of the time, or in other perhaps more simple terms, to not acknowledge that people have done bad before.

Optimistic, but watchful. My life has been improving a great deal. For that reason, I need to be careful to avoid pitfalls that could set me back in my progress.

I used to be pessimistic. My pessimism lead me to optimism in a wierd way because it wasn't total pessimism... there was hope there, but healthy doubting.

I put things through both strainers and decide how I feel when overlaying the two, shadow and light merge into something of a more reliable shade, can't hurt to appreciate a feeling found between, you get a better sense of direction if you have a neutral outlook in my opinion.
