I don't know if any of you guys on this board are experts at diagnosing problems with electronics, but here goes. I'm trying to burn a disc with music that I purchased off of iTunes, but when I do burn it, it won't play in my Sony 400-disc megachanger, OR my Sony CD recorder, but it will play just fine in my cheap $49 Sony discman. Could somebody try to help me figure out what the h*** is going on here, because I WANT MY MUSIC NOW!! !! !! !! !!

My guess it because Sony wants to prevent pirate music. So their players are bad
about playing your own custom burned cd's.

you might want to try posting a topic with 'problems with sony discman' in order to attract persons who have one to answer you?

I know of a program called Audacity which can record music coming out of the speakers. Here's how you can get music to play in modern devices using Audacity:

First, download the program (non-beta version) from here: http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

Second, download the MP3 add-on here: http://audacity.sourceforge.net/download/windows

Third, load up Audacity and load up some old files to learn how to use it. This shouldn't take more than a few minutes (you need to know how to cut off stuff).

Fourth, load up the song you want. Set the recording area to Audio-in. Start recording and then start the song, then stop recording once the song's finished.

Fifth, snip off the blank bits at the beginning and end of the song, then export the file as MP3 (found in the File menu).

Repeat for all the other songs.

A faster, albeit temporary method is to download a Trial version of a Music/Audio Converter.

It's called DRM, which exists to limit what you can do with the music you've paid for. There are programs that will strip DRM for you, but I haven't a clue what they're called. I've never bought anything with DRM on and I never will. If I want music that much I'll simply buy the CD instead (or get it via 'other' means).

I figured out the problem this morning! It's my blasted computer's CD burner. Great, now what do I do? This computer is brand new. It's a brand new laptop, and already it's giving me problems.
