It's the next IPOD. A must-have among Techies first, then everybody when the price comes down.

($499=ouch)

Looks interesting, do you know the specs for it? Would be interested to know how it compares with the Sony Ericsson P-series smartphones.

Oh, it's so beautiful!! ! I must have one. But, um, I guess I'll just have to resign myself to disappointment, because I'm about as broke as broke can be, hehe.

This is my new one: http://youtube.com/watch?v=EtZx9pQ3Bxw

Admittedly it's bigger and a fair bit more expensive than the Apple one, but I'd be lost without WiFi and touchscreen interface.

I heard that the IPHONE won't require any stylus, as a knock to Sony.

Could be advantageous I suppose as it's sometimes a real pain if you misplace the stylus. It's not 100% neccessarry with the P-series, just feels much better with one. I want to know when we'll be able to send and receive texts plus emails direct from our brains just by thinking.

Why aren't there more Aspies drooling about this thing? COME ON PEOPLE, GET PSYCHED!! !

-widescreen video iPod
-fully functioning OSX
-first fully functioning web browser for the phone (Safari)
-completely touch screen and colorful
-will sync with all your iLife s**t, including calendar, photo, etc.
-crystal clarity
-thin and light weight
-no stylus
-ability to resize photos and webpages with your fingertips! (this is a really neat feature)
-it's an apple, so its probably going to just get better with time

I won't get one until next year I predict, but these things are seriously awesome. Its a giant punch in the face to windows. All the windows guys at my work were silently weeping and mumbling that the iPhone is "cool".

alex: you forgot a poll option.

"OH EM GEE I WANT 2 HAEV ITS BABIEZ!11!! !!1!!ONE!1!! !!"

I really hope I'm not alone with that sentiment, that thing looks so amazing. I just hope that the cingular logo isn't telling of how many carriers will have access to it. More than that, I hope if Verizon offers it that they don't try to cripple the hell out of it. :x

It doesn't work with verizon. It's a GSM phone.

...and that sounds like something Verizon needs to work on. :P

If I end up going to grad school in a different part of the country (assuming I get in to any >_<), I may seriously consider changing my carrier so I have access to the phone. Even if I don't initially get one, it will be nice to have as an option later down the line. That, and I'm not a huge verizon fan at this point. Preventing me from using the bluetooth connectivity that the phone is capable of, no me gusta.

I covet the iPhone. I want the iPhone. I am counting down the days until I can buy an iPhone. I am so glad I didn't buy an iPod for Christmas; now I will put that iPod money towards my iPhone and just use my Nano for now. It's the ultimate smartphone: a widescreen iPod with 160 ppi resolution, a cell phone, and a sync-able, dockable, OS X/Safari-running mini-computer. Apple really has reinvented the phone.

Also, Cingular's website (linked from Apple) says it's exclusive to the carrier. (Personally, I've been happy with my Cingular service, but I guess some people have issues with it.)

CDMA is technically superior to GSM and it's apple's responsibility to support 3G
