Pulling grass

There's nothing strange about it, I swear it's like a natural instinct built into people haha I notice everyone do it. Whenever I sit on grass I don't even make a conscious decision to start pulling the grass out and fidgeting with it.

I remember kids at school used to pull the grass when sitting on the school field at lunch together, as though it was a common habit. I used to do it too, but it wasn't considered strange.

Sounds very credible. Just a hunter-gatherer thing.

I agree, pulling grass and a million other things may not be unique to Aspies when taken by themselves. Not everything can be an Aspie symptom.

But when you put them all together, and you get the impression that people think you're a little off because you're always fidgeting with everything, all the time; now that might be Aspergerish.

I love the smell of grass,and bare feet on it,and pulling it.Gardening was a special interest even when I was little.I would dig up little wild flowers and make little flower beds.
So I get to pull grass and weeds a lot,and the dirt also smells good,it has a sweet smell.
But I do fidget with my hands,I like to twist and play with my hair or anything I can pull thru my hands.

I am going to look at a piece of garden this weekend. If it looks ok, I am going to grow my own flowers and ecological greens there

I tested it in Aspie Quiz, and pulling grass correlates the most with throwing small things like stones. It also correlates to other traits in the Aspie hunting group. Just like throwing stones, this can be seen as a stim as well.

The correlation to neurodiversity is decent (0.41).

Strange thing also is that I do not consider it as dirty when I walk in it on bare feet, even if there is mud on them afterwards. But when I walk through a puddle or something it feels dirty and I clean my feet within a short time. It has this clean association, unless it is really wet or damaged. And oh yes, I really thoroughly hate people who let their dog walk on grass that is intended for people.

I used to pull up grass in my younger days as i liked the feel of it.

I used to spend school lunchbreaks pulling up grass. I found it quite a therapeutic activity in what could sometimes be quite a stressful environment.

Hmmmm, I have no problem pulling grass, I just don't like to mow my lawn.

Also, I'm sure my neighbors would object if they saw me grabbing the grass of my own property....
