I am 27 years old, and I am a junior in college. I plan to go full-time, and I am upset that my age will impact any social aspect of college.

I want to have the same experiences in college that the 18/19/20-year-olds have. And I am worried that those opportunities have passed me by.

Am I wrong in wanting the college experience that I was unable to have 10 years ago? I am very lost in this.

Tim

haha I went to college during the young days (20-23 or so) and I didnt see any unique experiences. Just another time, different location. I dont see why you cant have fun, though.

I don't know if it's the same here in the UK as in the US, but my sister-in-law went back to college at age 46 and met lots of people both her age and younger and found that she got on well with the younger ones, and didn't feel out of place. It is not uncommon here for mature students to go to college at any age, but of course they are in the minority.

Well, I think you deserve to have the fun and experiences that you missed ten years ago, and I hope that you do. :)

I was an undergrad from 16-20, yeah on the younger side of the range. I don't think I was mature enough then to deal with many of the college "opportunities" anyway.

I don't think it's wrong for you to want the typical college experience at all. However, if anything I'd advise not to want it so bad that you end up missing other things (for the 22+ crowd) that pop up right in front of your face. This is simply because the 18-22 life is just a small part of what's out there to experience!! 8)

I really don't think it's your age that will matter, tim. It's your attitude. If you go there feeling like there is no hope, people will sense that in you.

I am just worried that if I meet someone in college that I might be interested, that she will reject me because I am too old.

age rule is 1/2 age plus 8 years for a females age for a man.

Tim =27(or is it 28 ?)

27/2 + 8 = 21.5 minium age for a girl friend.
28/2 + 8 = 22

Yeah there will be alot of women who will not consider you too old.
