Yes, all the time. In fact, when I made my first post here, I was mistaken for a guy once again!

I don't get mistaken for a guy now, as everyone knows this Red Mage is female.

@goomba: Awesome avatar you got there. :)

I usually make assumptions on people's gender based on their avatar as well: hence, i have called someone a (gender) whn they were (other gender) at the worst possible moment (EX: during flame wars on other websites). It's not a pretty sight.

Try it for a while. Unless that's what you're going for, it gets old after a while.

I'm a girl btw.

I was very much a tomboy when I was in school though (esp. Middle and most of High); like ages 11-16. You'd be amazed at how many people feel it is their civic duty to keep people who they assume to be male individuals out of the girl's bathroom in public places.

I was once mistaken for a girl.

Can there be a gender-neutral sign below the postcount?

Once I was mistaken for a man here because that person's assumptions on a sex I belong to were based on the fact I used to have avatar with Data from TNG :D

Well, at least that won't happen because of your current avatar. Nothing says feminine like Sailor Moon.

I am almost always mistaken for a guy. Can't figure it out. Even on other sites!

I tend to choose feminine screen names, so nobody's mistaken me for a guy... yet.

I've been mistaken for a girl, solely for the avatar I chose on another board, and my name.

My name is Kitsune, and my avatar is a nine-tailed fox, of Japanese myth. And kitsune in the myths generally take the form of women. People also thought I was a furry, I was clueless as to what furries were.

I get mistaken for a guy in real life sometimes. Now I let my hair grew and try to keep it in a girly fashion so people don't get upset by thinking a guy uses the women's toilette in public. Geesh.

I sometimes get mistaken for a boy on message boards, when I have foreign nicks that people can't sort into a gender group. Uhm, do people on here mistake me for a guy?

I never think about people's genders on here, I usually don't care if I don't know it. If I'm curious nonetheless, I usually look it up in the profile.
