It's on, are you ready to rumbleeeeeeeeeeee?!

There's a war brewing, one between OS X & Vista. It's about which is better, why, and under the circumstances.

I think we are adults, for now though let's get down and dirty...

1. Vista is newer than OS X, newer things are naturally better.

2. OS X has spotlight, who wants on-the-fly searching as you type, it slows down everything.

3. OS X is no longer limited to a Mac, in truth OS X could run on a PC.

More ideas?

That's not possible...I don't think!! :? However -- I do know that one can buy "virtual PC" software for use on Mac OS X, but it isn't FREE or built-in to the OS!

Prove me wrong "''O Wise One'"?!?

There are hacked versions of it running on PCs already (look into Hackintosh).

OSX can also use WINE now.

Following that logic; you could say OS X is better than Vista because there is a new one due around spring called Leopard. The current one is called Tiger and yes, Vista can give it a good run for it's money. Leopard however will slaughter Vista.

Everyone I know. I'd prefer a tiny bit of overhead to sitting around for hours waiting for the OS to find my files.

This is true, you can get OS X working on a PC, but why bother? I personally would rather use it on the platform that it was intended for, so if anything goes wrong, Apple will help. You're on your own with the hacked versions. Not only that, but have you seen the inside of a Mac Pro, seen how clutter-free they are? Compare that to the insides of a PC which is a complete mess. Also, for the Power-Users, you can get Macs with much higher specs than PCs at this time unless you're willing to invest huge amounts of time and money on something like a Blade server.

Nah, he's bringing up new points that he didn't mention in the other threads.

You can use Crossover on the Mac as well as Virtual PC, not to mention having Bootcamp on a Mac allows you to install Windows. Then there's this new "Cider" thing from Transgaming (the people behind Cedega) that'll let you run Windows games on a Mac.

As for Linux; as you right say, there's WINE, also there's Xen, VMWare, Cedega and I think there might also be an implementation of Crossover.
