This is the counterpart to the "why do guys hate fat chicks?" thread.

If it's shallow to reject a woman for her weight, it's equally shallow and more cruel to reject a man due to shyness. Weight is typically the result of lifestyle choices (ok, not always but most of the time, which is evident if you compare US obesity rates to obesity rates in rural Cambodia) while shyness is not.

Conversely (and this is my opinion), nobody is entitled to anything. And guys who reject fat women should not be judged. Neither should women rejecting shy guys, or anyone else expressing a personal preference for that matter.

The whining culture of entitlement ("you're just shallow and sexist!") is getting nauseating.

If this is a question wanting a legitimate answer, not just another whining entitlement post, for me at least the answer is simple. If a guy is shy and introverted, there is a lot more pressure on the female to take the lead. Ask him out, do most of the talking, take the lead in plans. Once past the initial stuff, where they would have a harder time getting to know a shy guy, then it doesn't matter so much. But you have to actually get there first.

Hate's probably the wrong word, but I could guess why shy guys are less successful:
1. Don't ask, don't get.
2. Confidence is attractive.

Yeah, i'm a guy, but it seems fairly obvious.

Yes, and they are often thought to be gay for some reason.

If attraction exists, I kill it fairly effectively in most (if not all) cases. It's just one of those things. I have to continue to learn.

My son was very shy as a teenager and some people thought he might be gay, mostly men.
But the girls liked him, and flirted with him to try and draw him out.I think it worked for him because he was cute and very fashion conscious at that time. His big sisters's friends made a fuss over him all the time. He's not at all shy around the ladies now.

Probably simply because shy guys will not approach them and make the legendary "first move", and women will certainly not approach a shy man apart from maybe 1 out of 100 cases where a woman doesn't believe in the attitude relic that the man must make the first move. However there's a misconception in there somewhere because women often do make the first move, something that's well known by body language experts and.. often enough I find it's the woman who hints/offers the chance to make that so-called "first move".
