How to do so?
Like is there anyway I can mess w/ the code on say Halo 1 to do like 720p or in Crysis it only goes up to 1680x1050 or i've heard about enabling very high AA in old games such as Bioshock

You'll likely need mods to do something like that.
Enabling things of that nature in a game that does not already have it is, in most cases, something that'd take a ton of time and a great deal of expertise. Nothing as simple as changing a couple of numbers, usually it's very heavy coding instead.
So yeah, look around for mods for the game in question, would be my advice.
