I've got the Mannequin Mania box set, with the Auton stories from Pertwee's era!

Just about to put it on now, and watch it with my dinner!

Don't blame story problems on the actors. That's the writer's/producer's error to deal with.

I don't know whose fault it is and I don't care, I just know how disappointed I was, hoping there would be a new series and then when there was one feeling I'd been left behind because so many seemed to like the new series, Doctor, companion but I didn't.

I like the classic series just as much as the new series. Even though Ecclestone was the Doctor when I started watching in 2005, Tom Baker has become my favourite by far. The special effects may not have been fantastic but I think the story-lines were better.

I agree, my fave Doctor is Pat Troughton

I grew up with the old serials on repeat on UK Gold. Jon Pertwee is my favourite Doctor.

The first time I ever went to the pictures was in 1965 with the other kids in the Children's home to see the following.
I hadn't even seen much TV then so you can imagine how amazing it was for me.

I have said in the past that Pat Troughton is my favorite Doctor but the truth is that I really like the first 4 Doctors and Matt Smith most and which is my favorite at any given time is dependant on my mood. Probably my favorite story of all is The Mind Robber. Such fun, creativity! It was amazing how interestingly and well they handled the absence of Frazer Hines during part of the filming because he contracted chicken pox (or at least I think it was chicken pox).

I'm not sure.

By beef with the "new" Dr. Who is how they re-imagined so much of the series, and it's just hard to harmonize the cannon from Dr. Who (old) and the new version.

The "new" version has it's benefits, but it took some getting used to. The idea of the TARDIS being more "organic" than ever before portrayed just doesn't seem to work for me. I've also had issues with "regeneration." A Timelord gets 13 incarnations, and the actors pass by somewhat fast....creating a problem with you hit #13. It seems easier to say that Timelords can tap into a power source to regenerate (e.g., power heart of the TARDIS...temporal energy), but the idea of just giving a Timelord more regenerations seems odd. It's as if they just throw in a plot fix when they need one.
