I continue to come across conflicting answers to the following question I have, and I hope that I do not come across as stupid, by inquiring. In addition to, or as part of Asperger Syndrome, I have Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Sensory Processing Disorder and Synesthesia. Would my additional diagnoses, be considered symptoms, or comorbids of AS?

I've just grabbed the link, to the Wiki description of Comorbidity, which I have linked, here, though, I have yet to read it.

Thank you very much for any information or input you may be able to offer me. d l s

I think Sensory Processing Disorder is now considered a symptom of HFA/AS, according to DSM 5.

I thought sensory issues was part of autism and always has been. People argue rather OCD, anxiety, is all part of it too. My mom was informed it was when I was diagnosed. I have even been told depression was part of it too and dyspraxia. people with autism do have problems with coordination and motor skills so why wouldn't dyspraxia be part of it?

Sure you can have these and not have an ASD.

My understanding is that sensory processing disorder of some sort is mandatory for ASD and would be considered a symptom. Everything else you've listed I'd just call comorbids. (Well, I wouldn't call synesthesia comorbid since I don't think of synesthesia as being disabling at all...although I could see how it could totally make sensory processing issues a lot worse.)

Hi ZombieBride- Would you mind if I asked you what your issues are? If you do not wish to share, I will understand. Hope your day is going well! : )
