True - I've just been to California, Oregon, Idaho, and the only foreign country I've ever been to is Canada.
But you just somehow know that the heartland and south are "culturally backward"....
Partially be repute, partially by meeting people from the heartland (I should qualify my previous statement that there are plenty of individuals from that part of the country who are very cultured and intellectual), and of course, from TV!! !! !! !
