There is a funny bit in the creationist textbook Of People and Pandas where you can see the change begin. They decided to change creationists to "design proponents" after a court decision against creationism. But they messed up the copy/paste and wound up with a sentence referring to "cdesign proponentsists"

While I'm sure there is a small minority within the creationism tent who believe in an abstracted form of ID (common descent with some fingerprints here and there), it's mostly been completely absorbed by old fashioned creationists by now. You can hear the dumbest YECs on Earth drop ark references and then start spouting ID rhetoric about information without batting an eye.
