New test facilitates diagnosis of autism in adults

Can´t find the test. On what page?

It's only 14 questions. I think this might be helpful to give to many people in both medical and psych settings. They can then be referred to get further testing if it indicates they have traits of autism. It's kind of like those tests for Bipolar. They are useful for referrals.

I just hope this isn't used as some sort of checklist like certain others. I know some psychiatrists use this 10 question? checklist for Bipolar, depression, so on. It's like...uhm...that's only useful for determining if one MIGHT have it. You have to take context, observations, and other variables into consideration.

It's a cheap way of helping people get referrals, though. This would be AMAZING to give to all mental health patients, especially to avoid misdiagnosis.

Maybe too cheap, - like the 8 questions used by the doc to establish whether you are depressed or not and to what extent.

I don't know about the 16 question test, but I just took the RAADS-R test and these are the results:

I don't much like this questionnaire. I think it is somewhat biased by being tested on people who have been diagnosed with an ASD, who will have self-awareness that others lack due to having undergone ASD evaluations. Those who are undiagnosed sometimes have no clue that they have the symptoms in the statements and therefore can't give useful answers.

It does not occur to me to think about other people's feelings while we are talking unless they are are clearly experiencing an extreme emotional state like rage or joy. I therefore would not be able to state whether or not it is difficult for me to do such a thing.
