I hate those pharmaceutical ads that list all of the horrible side effects of the medications you're taking for any problem you can name. At best, you don't know if you're getting better or worse; at worst-you could die! May cause nausea, vomiting, alternating episodes of constipation and diarrhea, dizziness, drowsiness and DEATH!

Don't drive or operate machinery until you know how this affects you!

And if you or a loved one dies...YOU CAN SUE!

It might say so on chocolate for instance because they make chocolate with and without nuts, and using the same machinery, and they can't guarantee 100% that there can't be any trace of nut in chocolate that should be nut-free. A slight trace is enough for those with severe allergies, so they're making sure there is a warning on it so people know.

And on something that isn't explicitly a bag of nuts, that would make sense. (also, peanuts are technically legumes, not nuts. There, I pointdextered myself.)

We once had some pistachio nuts that contained some "unauthorized extra protein"-WORMS! We had "pistachio nut flies" buzzing around for a year afterward.
