Post some of your favorite music videos that are entertaining in their own right, not just for the song.

This has been one of my favorite songs since I was in high school and and had to memorize the poem in German for class (along with Die Loralie). It's a tragic story of a father and son. Lyric translation below.

Who rides there so late through the night dark and drear?
The father it is, with his infant so dear;
He holdeth the boy tightly clasp'd in his arm,
He holdeth him safely, he keepeth him warm.

"My son, wherefore seek'st thou thy face thus to hide?"
"Look, father, the Erl-King is close by our side!
Dost see not the Erl-King, with crown and with train?"
"My son, 'tis the mist rising over the plain."

"Oh, come, thou dear infant! oh come thou with me!
For many a game I will play there with thee;
On my strand, lovely flowers their blossoms unfold,
My mother shall grace thee with garments of gold."

"My father, my father, and dost thou not hear
The words that the Erl-King now breathes in mine ear?"
"Be calm, dearest child, 'tis thy fancy deceives;
'Tis the sad wind that sighs through the withering leaves."

"Wilt go, then, dear infant, wilt go with me there?
My daughters shall tend thee with sisterly care;
My daughters by night their glad festival keep,
They'll dance thee, and rock thee, and sing thee to sleep."

"My father, my father, and dost thou not see,
How the Erl-King his daughters has brought here for me?"
"My darling, my darling, I see it aright,
'Tis the aged grey willows deceiving thy sight."

"I love thee, I'm charm'd by thy beauty, dear boy!
And if thou'rt unwilling, then force I'll employ."
"My father, my father, he seizes me fast,
For sorely the Erl-King has hurt me at last."

The father now gallops, with terror half wild,
He grasps in his arms the poor shuddering child;
He reaches his courtyard with toil and with dread, ?
The child in his arms finds he motionless, dead.

I forgot this one - one of the first videos I ever saw, back when they were a new thing.

Awesome thread!

I see Peter Gabriel's 'Sledgehammer' has been done already...*shucks. lol

I also like Michael Jackson's 'Black or White' as a video in its own right, over 'Thriller'.

Post some of my fave 'video artwork creations'? I can do that:

That will do for now.

This is a song I could hear over and over again and never get tired of it (and indeed I have since it came out 10 or so years ago lol--just love regina spektor's voice), but the video is cool because: stop motion!

And this one, because Shad kicks a** and because this video is basically a recreation of the opening theme of Fresh Prince. lol

Weird. I'm a HUGE Radiohead fan, but for some reason I have no recollection of this video at all. lol Was it an official one or was it some fan made one, do you know?

Also, don't feel like you need to hold back at all with the video posting, post away!

This is another one of my favorites - Johnny Cash, right before his wife died (she's in the background), and he died soon after her.

Thanks.

I always think I am boring people. lolz

That Radiohead video is the official one...well, it's the one I always see on MTV, Rage and all those shows.

I'll post more soon (on that psychedelic thread).

My music knowledge and range of genres I am appreciative of is huge (even though my fave genre is Aggrotech/Industrial/EBM).

I hope guys can at least see the 'background' here.

Thanks again and I shall post with free abandon.
