Regardless of what you feel about the American comic book industry, there is no denying the impact it has made on pop culture. Superhero comics have introduced us to unique character archetypes, memorable storylines, and popular art styles. In light of that last comment, post (links to) non-comic characters that have been restylized to look like comic characters.

IMAGE (From left to right, this drawing features Speed Racer, Cutie Honey, Ichigo Kurosaki from Bleach, Sailor Moon, Naruto Uzumaki, and Son Goku from Dragon Ball Z.)

But in the 60's, 70's and 80's people who wanted to do comics drew in these styles:
Frazetta
Neal Adams
Bernie Wrightson
Barry Windsor Smith
Jack Kirby
John Byrne
Jim Lee
Rob Liefeld
Todd McFarlane

This would be a partial list

wow, that guy with the deconstructing roy lichtenstein website didn't get the point of what lichtenstein was doing....
next thing someone complains that warhol didn't take the pictures of monroe and mao himself, or that duchamp didn't form his fountain.
and I gues that then goes for you, too zkydz. Lichtenstein's art was not his originality, but exactly that he copied "cheap" graphics, that were not even his own creation.

Roy Lichtenstein tended to copy this " love comic " style of drawing that has been essentially totally gone from comic books for forty years - it tends to live on in.oarodies and " campy " nostalgia. Just like Carl Barks/Sheldon Mayer style " funny " art is not what people associate with comic books nowadays.
