A Subaru! Believe it or not, I'm A-okay, but my car's completely totaled. Not my DeLorean (which hit road debris on the turnpike and is out of commission for a few days while that's repaired), but my daily driver. Yes, the one that's currently in the top-right of my avatar. Before we go any further, I will say this: at the request of my fiancee, I have opted not to post direct pictures, but I am posting links to said pictures so that those that wish to survey the damage can do so (and quite honestly, I've been showing anyone anyways. Some may think it's morbid or something, but I survived quite well, so I have zero problem with it). Here they are:

Small web-size:

SAME pictures, just full-size:

(I do this resizing thing all the time for blog posts on my DeLorean by the way, so you can "get the gist of it" from the small size, but if you want detail, it's available too).

So here's what happened: Someone was making a left turn into their driveway, and was both stopped and had their blinker on (which I saw clear as day -- I vividly remember the yellow blinking in addition to the red brake lights). The guy behind him had come to a complete stop slightly to the right of him, as if he wanted to pass on the shoulder but was too close to do so. Knowing I couldn't pass since the guy in front was blocking part of the shoulder, I just stayed in the middle of my lane, but also came to a complete stop. Keep in mind as I say this next part that the speed limit is 45 MPH, and I have frequently witnessed people doing 60 MPH here. Well, something strange caught my eye in the rearview mirror, so I glanced at it, and my instinctive analysis was "that car's going VERY fast". The headlights were about an inch apart on the rearview mirror, and all within a matter of ONE second, they went from there to getting both bigger and more widely spaced, and met the outside of the rearview mirror. It was at this instant that I heard a "BAM" and felt the whole car being shot forward. It was incredibly surreal!

Since the guy in front was slightly to the right, he only got clipped, which wound up being REALLY good for them as they drove off after the cops gave the go-ahead for them to do so before I could so much as say "hello". The person behind me didn't fare as well, and their front end was demolished. Thankfully, ALL individuals involved survived and walked away from it, myself included! I've got a few cuts on my right hand, a bruse/scrape on my right leg, and my neck's a wee bit stiff, but beyond that I'm A-okay. God was looking out for me for sure, and I certainly felt him like I have never felt him before today of all days. I even wrote a letter to my dealership telling them that while the car's totaled, I'm a lifelong Subaru customer now, and attached pictures for them to share with the rest of the dealership (or even Subaru if they want to give positive feedback on accident statistics -- and I just realized I called myself a "statistic" there  LOL!) Anyways, long story short, everyone involved is A-okay, and while my fiancee was worried sick about this happening again, I'm actually at peace with the whole thing. We'll see how it all goes, but since I'm most definitely not at fault in this, and since both the cops and the tow truck driver said it was totaled (and my experience tells me this as well), I'm probably getting a new car out of the deal! :D

I'll have to pay for part of it most likely, but with only 6,100 miles on the odometer when this happened, it won't be much depreciation at all. Didn't even make it to the first service interval, which is particularly hilarious considering we just saw that commercial about "how can a car depreciate before it gets its first oil change?" to which I provided a snappy answer, but anyways.

Bottom line is that I'm okay, everyone else is okay, and only three cars were damaged in the process, no humans and no spirits either! :D

You might want to hire an attorney anyhow, just in case the insurance company decides to shaft everybody.

They were okay as well, and walked away from it too. Very apologetic, and quite frankly, being the guy that's starting a church, I TOTALLY forgive her. I'm just glad a) everyone's okay, and b) I was in a stable enough shape to tell her that it's okay (so no attorneys will be involved unless someone doesn't pay period). As far as traffic citations go, I do not know if they got any, nor does it matter. I am not resentful at all for this, but glad I'm doing okay. Even if I just woke up at 12:38 AM from my first "reenactment" dream and am remembering more details because of it.

having "reenactment dreams" is a useful thing.

Those self-driving cars smart people are working on can't come soon enough.
