I suggest checking out myfitnesspal.
You can log all your food there and it automatically adds up the calories, protein etc, and also has very informative forums and the option for friends to cheer you on when you have successful logging days.

Don't know if you're a coffee drinker, but it can sabotage your eating habits. If you roll out of bed dying for a morning cup, try exercising instead and nix the coffee. It's difficult to break the ritual, but worth it.
You can also try adding cinnamon to some foods. It lowers your glucose levels. Good luck!
