There are lots of great seasonal seafood places along the CT/RI/MA/ME shoreline--as far as I can tell many of the workers at these places really enjoy what they are doing.

About 40 years ago, I asked for plain rice, because I am a vegetarian. They picked most of the pork out of it, and I have not returned to any similar establishment. When I drove taxi, I worked three days a week. Most guys worked four or five, because they took their breaks in restaurants. I can see the value of restaurants for travellers, and for celebrating special occasions, but they cause more food waste than regular home cooking. Now, I have a portable kitchen.
To me, most meals look like ghoulish funerals for abused, neglected pets, because all domestic animals make fine companions if you treat them well. Watching them makes me too nauseous to digest anything for hours. I am also astounded by all the stories people have about bad digestion from modern food, and that they still eat it. Meat was the health food of the Stone Age, but now it is not only unhealthy for us, it is killing the planet.
