Studies have shown that we forget 90% of our dream within a minute of waking up.

not allowing interruptions to your dreams by closing the bedroom door and turning on a brown/pink noise generator to mask outside noises. as soon as one is aware that one has been dreaming, immediately replay the dream, repeatedly, to make it sink into long-term memory. as soon as one is able, document the dream on paper or on the computer.

Oh! :o Thanks for explaining! I should start writing my dreams down right in the morning, before I forget them. To see if my dreams have any sort of pattern to them. :)

also try replaying the dreams between awaking and reaching a computer or piece of paper to write them down, it helps with recall.

But that if one is unable to recall most of the dream? Sometimes I only remember parts of the dream.

then concentrate on what you can remember. I can only remember the high points of my dreams, so I concentrate my energies on retaining those elements. the more you replay what you can remember, the more things will pop out of it that you didn't remember before.
