Yes, I think I will probably get a job. They say if they hire me permanently I'll start in mid January (more training at first). They also hinted at the possibility of later promotion, the chance to earn internal qualifications, etc.
I think this could be a fast track to employment for me that will make up for lost time. Before I found out about this I was thinking I'd spend five or six years studying next year (diploma first, than degree) but I'd rather take this opportunity now that it's come along. Partly because it has a higher probability of working (no need to worry about failing uni exams or ending up unemployed with a degree) and partly because I want to get a job before I turn 30 (spending years at uni would have been fine for me in my late teens and early twenties but I'm older than that now and I want to have a job).
I'm surprised that they're paying me that much. That's more than I earned in my last job. If they had made it a totally unpaid internship they would still have had many applicants. Not to mention they said I still get my pension during the traineeship because it's not permanent work so I get $130 per weekday plus a $1,058 per fortnight pension at the same time (and no income tax on either)
