do you see the little letters or the big letters first?

That was my reaction too the first time I took that 'test' (I saw it in Simon Baron-Cohen's "Autism and Asperger Syndrome" in 2009). I didn't see the big letter at all first. I had to mentally take a step back and look at it again, and it was hard to see it. There were all these little H's and they were in a big strange pile. It was a weird feeling when I realized that it was an A, like a whole new perspective.

It made me remember an online guide to Rune Factory that I had checked out. It started with a bunch of annoying little letters (it might have been r's but I can't recall for sure; it's been too long). I never got why they were there. After seeing the big A in Baron-Cohen's book I took a new look at that guide, and sure enough, it spelled out Rune Factory. I had missed out on it completely.

I've taken more such 'tests' later, but I always see the small letters first. It's getting easier to see the big letters, but I don't see them first.

Both. I bet I would have seen the little ones first if I wasn't expecting them to be big letters like I have before.

I would have to look that up, in order to give you an answer.

I have had to make sure that all the telephone poles are standing straight up and down, to ride my bike, and suppose I was using tricks like these to keep my truck on the road, spar, and play simple games of marksmanship.

I know that I have unusual senses but do not feel as though I am handicapped.

I saw that the big letters were made up of smaller letters at the same time, but the small letters registered in my mind first.

I have also, apparently passed a test for tetrachromatism.

It is reportedly a recessive expression of the red-green color blindness gene, which just so happens to run in my family. In my case, only some of cones are aligned unusually.

The test asks which letter or number is hidden, inside of a colored circle, of red, blue or yellow. A trick question. To my eye, a downward-facing arrow, focused into a 3d representation of a cube, as viewed from the corner.

A greenish haze surrounded a thin blue line, turning violet, as I relaxed my vision.

I have been CT scanned, to see whether the migraines, etc were caused by anything dangerous. Nothing exceptional was revealed, except for that I am bigger than most.

Little. I actually had to look away and then open my eyes wider in order to see the big letters.

I saw both at the same time.
I was slightly at a distance from my screen and to one side, however.
The title was a bit of a giveaway too. I was immediately anticipating large or capital letters.
