Blade Runner 2049.

(Spoiler Alert)

Robot prostitution is in this film

Violence is in this film too.

The film's pacing is like that of a museum hall too.

Ryan Gosling is more than just a romantic comedy or romantic film actor. He is an actor for several other types of films too.

Also this film will feel completely odd and weird if you have not read the book, watched the short films, or seen the first original film.

My review: I give it 4 stars out of 5. 4 stars, because if a newcommer to Blade Runner sees this film, would not know what is going on entirely.

On Netflix

I Am The Pretty Thing That Lives In The House

I've seen this a couple times before. It's a quiet movie. It is what I imagine a book by Shirley Jackson would be like if she wrote on film. It is not by Shirley Jackson, but it has that feel, and it feels like a book. I think that is rare in movies. It was written and directed by Osgood Perkins.

The beginning of the movie, with Ruth Wilson as the "pretty thing," she narrates -
"From where I am now, I can be sure of only a very few things. The pretty thing, you are looking at, is me. Of this I am sure. My name is Lily Sayler. I am a hospice nurse. Three days ago, i turned 28 years old. I will never be 29 years old."
She takes her time narrating, making liberal and effective use of pauses. She is telling us a ghost story. The house is haunted.

This movie may not be for everyone. I suspect some might find it too slow paced, maybe boring, because it really is a quiet, slow paced movie. When it does get loud, it counts.

Spiderman: Homecoming.

I've already reported on seeing this movie the first time I saw it. Still, it was a fun movie, though I think Spidey was too dependent on the gadgets Tony Stark built into the suit, rather than depending on his spider powers and wits, as he had always done in the comics.
