Wondering why my wine seemed particularly warm, I learned that the dish washer significantly (10°+ F, even after five hours) warms the counter above it, after sleuthing around with an IR thermometer. It seems obvious, but I'd never really thought about it.

My mother told me at lunch that over 2000 people showed up at the "rib fest" they were having downtown this weekend, which was over twice as many people as they expected. The ribs were free, they were asking for donations for the hospital or something. Hopefully they raised a good amount of money, but they must have run out of ribs pretty fast, and I'm glad I chose to go shopping at the mall on Friday instead of going to eat free ribs with that many people! 8O

It seems to me when a big event like that is being held a lot more people than they expect show up. They must think people here have way better or more important things to do, or maybe a lot of people here are lucky if they get anything decent to eat.

I never thought I would be capable of liking someone that I once hated. I think we (a coworker and I) hated each other a few years ago but now we genuinely like each other and enjoy working together. That's something new that I learned about myself.

The used children's things store I like opens at 10 am. My husband is supposed to be at work by 8:30. Even if he's late and we meander around, I get at the store an hour early and have to go home, dejected.

I'll have to make a separate trip out later to get used children's finery.

According to Science News Magazine, velvet spiders with bold behavior but incorrect information were bad influences on their colonies. Spider growth faltered in these colonies because naïve group mates were slow to catch on to bold ones' errors. In contrast, misinformed shier spiders didn't undermine their colonies' prospects.

Today I learned that one of my co-workers has been slacking off and putting his workload on me.

Tomorrow, the boss is going to learn that, too!

That a white spot on a cat's chest is called a "locket".

I rarely learn anything I'm not embarrassed for not having known already.
