Male interests vs female interests
I'm female and my main special interest is turtles, but I’m also so into Pokemon that I think it counts as a special interest.
My regular interests are (and have been since my childhood):
Reading
Movies and series I like
Some comics and manga
Horror, creepypasta, urban legends
Fantasy
Science fiction
Boats, planes, trains, some cars
Animals and paleontology
Animal rights and welfare, environment
Extreme weather
Mysteries, unexplained stuff, conspiracy theories
Some interest in psychology and diseases
History and archaeology. Modern history. Really enjoy hearing about what life was like in the decades of the last century that I didn’t experience.
Nostalgia
Board, dice, card and video games
I used to love writing, but haven’t written much in over a decade
Daydreaming
What-if scenarios, alternate histories, parallel dimensions
Cryptozoology
Abandoned buildings, ghost towns, urban exploring photos and videos
I might have forgotten something.

It's solely dependent on my mood.
When I am extremely low, downbeat and depressed (as I currently am) all I ever do is follow my football team's latest transfer activities and partake in online cricket fantasy leagues, whilst listening to either Bowie or grunge music. Yet, bizarrely, I do not derive any pleasure from doing as such. It's almost as if my mind completely switches off during this juncture of impassivity, and at worst/best, has led me to self-mutilating. Without wanting to be hyperbolic, I am somewhat amazed that I still remain.
Conversely, when I am more upbeat and happier in myself, I like to read fiction; practice tongue-twisters to improve my communication skills; write down complicated words to broaden my vocabulary; repeatedly watch Twin Peaks and jog to control my body weight.
Gender: F
Interests: Art & Design, Making furniture, Repairing things, Collecting and sorting information on subjects of interest, Psychology, Social experiments, photography, Health (& sometimes Fitness)
There has to be a good reason for everything I do. If there isn't, I'm not motivated to pursue any interests. For example, I don't make furniture unless I need a piece, but I love doing it and will be totally absorbed in the process until completion.
Yes, those are interesting.

First and foremost Classical music. I made it my trade. I was obsessed, declassing everything else, but luckily, with age I have grown open toward anything, really.
Art, painting(have been all absorbing) and now photo (aesthetic interest).
Acting (obsession for a number of years) It is of rather the same artistic nature as music.
Antiques. Have been restoring old painted furniture. (Did live and breathe for it for some years)
Mushrooms (was an obsession, now an interest).
Nature, animals, outdoor life, bicycling (own a racer) and the freedom in it.
Garden + do-it-yourself (with a little design) = interests and get-away.
Others, just interests: computer, movies.

I'm female.
My interests include:
Music (made it my career. Particular interest in theory & composition)
Side interests (which I lately have not had as much time for, but interest has not waned) include, in no particular order:
Gardening (and putting up the produce)
Bread baking
Crochet
Cross-stitch
Poetry (reading/writing)
Hiking/Camping
Biking
Philosophy & Religion
History
Cultures of the world
I've pretty much had the same list of interests as long as I can remember. The latest any interest started was in college, and that was 20 years ago. Some interests, like gardening and hiking/camping, were things I was interested in as a kid but couldn't do much with until I got older.
